Kochi Roads of Shikoku

Hachioji/Sakura Road

Hachioji/Sakura Road

The Hachioji Sakura Road, which starts from the Suita Rest Area, is a 9.5 km trail that goes through the mountains in the northern part of Tosayamada-cho (Kami City) to JR Tosayamada Station. This rare Shikoku trail runs through the path of a golf course on the way. After passing the golf course, you will descend the mountain and arrive at JR Tosayamada Station via Ishizuchi Shrine and Hachioji Shrine. Hachioji Shrine originated in the Muromachi period when a vassal of the Yamada clan transferred Hiyoshi Shrine in Omi to the former Meiji village of Hachioji. It was relocated to its current location when the Yamada Weir was developed, and is also famous for its cherry blossoms.
