Ehime Roads of Shikoku

Hoketsu Bay Observation Corridor

Hoketsu Bay Observation Corridor

This 9.5-kilometer route begins at Hanaga Pass, winds through the Takamoriyama Rest Area, and traverses Hoketsu Pass and Nofuku Pass. Along the steep mountain trail from Hanaga to Hoketsu Pass, you will notice remnants of terraced fields, a reminder that mandarins were once cultivated there. From the Takamoriyama Rest Area, you can enjoy panoramic views of the islands scattered across the Uwa Sea. Upon reaching Hoketsu Pass, you will find a stone monument inscribed with the words of Hymn No. 404: "Crossing the mountain path, though I walk alone, I am at peace, held in the Lord’s hand." Beyond the monument, a spectacular view of Hoketsu Bay unfolds, making this a route ideal for enjoying a variety of scenic landscapes.
