Kochi Roads of Shikoku

Yoshinosawa Trail

Yoshinosawa Trail

This 14.2-kilometer coastal route continues from Tomariura, passing through Tatsugasako to Tashiro. In the Tatsugasako district, the Tatsugasako Karajishi Dance, a Prefectural Intangible Folk Cultural Property, has been passed down for generations. During the Tenmangu Shrine festivals in summer and autumn, the dance is performed to pray for abundant catches and bountiful harvests. Hibari Kojima, located along the route, is normally surrounded by the sea. At low tide, though, a single path called the Angel Road appears, connecting the island to the mainland and letting visitors walk across. A short detour from the main trail leads along a mountain path thick with ubame oak, ending at a shallow, gently lapping white-sand beach. Unlike Kashiwajima, this secluded beach offers a strong sense of privacy, perfect for those seeking a relaxing, unhurried escape by the sea.
